At the age of ten Mattia was given a pole and started fishing local matches close to his home in Italy. He won lots, progressed quickly and soon won the Italian coarse fishing championship.
This wasn’t enough for Mattia and from the late 1980s he started experimenting with modern carp angling. He got information from abroad and started to apply tips and tricks to his own fishing. At the time he was considered a true pioneer in Italy.
At the age of 18 he passed his driving test, allowing him to be independent and fish over the borders in search of big foreign fish.
As his experience grew he was offered the chance to write articles in a number of magazines. After 15 years of writing he has now appeared in more than 500 European magazine. (Noi Pescatori, Tutto Carpa & Siluro, Carpa X tutti, Mondo Carpa and Carp&CatFishing as well as the Hungarian Horgaszto and the Ribolov in Ukraine).
"I can proudly say that I am one of the few anglers in the carp fishing scene that started to write before I was sponsored. I am extremely proud to be involved with Avid Carp and cannot wait to help promote the brand in Italy.
