Mario Taal is a Dutch carp angling machine. He's a real globetrotter, too, venturing across Europe to find monster carp.

He's a thinking angler who fishes at the very best of his ability at all times, whether he's sitting it out for a whacker or fishing on shorter sessions near his home in The Hague.

He's been fishing since he was eight years old and thinks his grounding in coarse fishing has taught him a lot about the feeding behaviour of fish - especially carp.

"I try to locate the fish, get knowledge of the swims to fish and try to set up the best trap possible to catch one of the lake's larger residents. When I've planned a shorter session I fish the channels of The Hague to chase the longer shaped and strong commons. For the longer sessions I visit a few lakes just outside the city of The Hague where I can chase the bigger but also pressured carp. It's also regular that I plan a minimum of three sessions abroad to chase the really big and special carp.

"I expect the full 100% from myself and also from the materials I'm using. If it is clothing, bait or the last bit of end tackle, everything has to be of outstanding quality, there's no space for concessions.

"I also stand for the way of thinking behind the Avid Company and the products. And due to that I'm proud and really look forward to join the team of anglers at Avid Carp. I also hope that I can contribute something to keep the products at the level where they already are and if possible to make them even better. So you all can enjoy the benefits of good materials that are needed to chase your own targets and dreams."
